Careers
The careers leads for Miltoncross Academy for 2018/2019 is Ms L Panou-King. Should you require further information on the Careers Programme for this Academic Year, they can be contacted on 02392 738022 or via louise.panou-king@miltoncross-tkat.org.
At Miltoncross, we will be working with the University of Portsmouth who will deliver a range of outreach activities aimed at addressing and overcoming potential barriers students may face.
The University will be gathering data to report how effective the programme is run. This programme will run from Year 7 to Year 11.
The next review of the Careers Programme and Activities is scheduled for September 2021.
Provider Access Statement
Post 16 Providers
Under Section 42b of the Education Act 1997 we are legally required to set out the school’s arrangements for managing the access of providers to pupils at the school for the purposes of giving them information about the provider’s education or training offer.
Students in Years 7-11 are entitled:
- To find out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeship opportunities, as part of a careers programme which provides information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point.
- To hear from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships – through options evenings, assemblies and group discussions and taster events.
- To understand how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.
A full schedule of the events and talks from providers are included in the 20/21 Careers Programme document at the bottom of this page.
Any provider wishing to make a visit to the Academy, should contact Ms L Panou-King or Mr Purnell in the first instance using the contact details below. The Academy policy on safeguarding sets out the school’s approach to allowing providers into school as visitors to talk to our students.
The Academy will make the auditorium, classrooms or private meeting rooms available for discussions between the provider and students, as appropriate to the activity. The Academy will also make available AV and other specialist equipment to support provider presentations. This will all be discussed and agreed in advance of the visit with the Careers Leader or a member of their team. Providers are welcome to leave a copy of their prospectus or other relevant course literature at the Learning Resource Centre, which is managed by the school librarian. The Resource Centre is available to all students at lunch and break times as well as after school until 4pm daily.
This statement will be reviewed next in September 2021.
